Anyway, bought 2, came in nice blister packs, both work as advertised, no problems whatsoever. Got them mainly to play with my 3.5 yr old son, opened the packages, we were having a BLAST right away, chasing a stunning each other, but got old pretty quick though.

[Content] => I just got this Phaser from the 09 Star Trek Movie and although I love the Wrath of Khan Phaser, this is still a cool addition to my Star Trek Collection.
Pro:
It's has a nice Chrome look to it and it fits your hand like a glove.
The Barrel does rotate.
Sounds are pretty cool and right out the movie.

The Barrel only rotates from Stun to Kill but you have to set back to Stun manually (it would have been nice if this had a small motor to rotate the barrel.)
Only Two Settings ( Stun and Kill---no power level adjusting like the Classic and WoK Phaser).
Above all it still a nice piece to my collection and I do love it but a few more features would have been nice (such as power level adjusting and an overload mode, a more motorize rotating barrel in stead of using the spring) .

[Content] => This product is fantastic for any Science Fiction fan, Star Trek or otherwise. The sound effects are cool and not annoying -a rarity among toys of this type. There are more features than I had thought when I originally bought it, making it a really pleasant surprise! The stun and vaporize settings have different sound effects. There's even a button for a quick switch from stun to vaporize. There's a power-up wheel on the top of the phaser with its own sound effect as well. The only drawback with this many features is possible lack of sturdiness, but this phaser has surprised me in this area too. It had survived several "battles" being shared back and forth between twelve kids ages six through twelve. It still works perfectly.
This is a great gift idea for practically any age group, from what I've seen its been a hit with grown ups and children alike. If you're a Star Trek fan fan this is a must buy!

Sturdy, blue bright lights, clear sounds. Cost me $12.99 + NY sales tax - Very economical since these ships are usually very overpriced! Does not come with the 3AA batteries necessary to run it. But because of the low price it does not matter. NOTE: There are 2 battery compartments. 1 under the lower body - holds 2 batteries and 1 under the saucer - holds 1 battery!

[Content] => I've been a fan of the Star Trek playmates series since I started collecting them as a kid. The Enterprise from the new Star Trek movie is pretty good. I think the size is just about right - at 15 inches, it's average for the Star Trek ships. The sculpting/paint job isn't superb, but it's pretty good - especially for the price! My only complaint is that wen you press the buttons, the sounds are a bunch of voices from the movie. I prefer the way the older ships had separate buttons for ship sound effects, like phasers and impulse drive. The sounds are just cheesy. I can't press the button to light up the ship without laughing. Hopefully, Playmates will go back to its former approach and include several options for lighting the ship up and better sound effects.

Cons: Disappointing limit of sounds and effects compared to the original series counterparts available.
Compared to the other availiable ships from the original series era, this ship only has one button and one has to cycle through different sounds, while the other ship i have has several buttons with specific effects. Swivel stand very good, very detailed textures and paint. Overall a very good buy

[Content] => I'm very impressed with the build and design of this Enterprise-D replica. It looks just like the ship on the classic TV show! There's a nice weight to it but it's not overly heavy. The paint job on it is excellent with no smudges.
My only complaints are that it's overly difficult to open the AAA battery compartment on the underside of the main hull. I had to pry it off with a flat-head screwdriver and made a nick in the side of the cover (mine shipped with dead batteries). Thankfully that nick is hidden from view when it's screwed back in place.
Also, though the lights and sound effects are excellent (I almost squealed when hearing the effects for the first time) Captain Picard's voice sounds a bit too tinny and he talks a bit too fast. The lights only mode is perfect for displaying on a shelf and very impressive.
This is the first Enterprise-D toy I've owned and I can't imagine anything else coming close to this toy's build quality and detail. Very happy with the purchase and highly recommended.

[Content] => This item was ordered for a 14 year old die-hard Star Trek fan. Both the initially shipped item and its replacement item were defective. The electronics appear to be very fragile or very poorly constructed. The first one had no sound and no light, even after changing out the batteries and the replacement had distorted and unintelligible sound. We have now returned two and are done with the product. Earlier versions of the Enterprise (A?) worked far better and in fact, the young ST fan has had one bought second hand for more than three years and it's still operating.
Save your money and your child's disappointment... :(

[Content] => Overall, I was very pleased with this purchase. The first one I received was defective, and the lights and sounds did not function even after changing out all the batteries. Also, the detailing was a bit smeared on that item. I returned it, and Amazon immediately placed a replacement order with 2 day shipping, which pleased me. The second ship had much better paint graphics, and the light and sound functioned correctly (after replacing dead batteries, which I expected.) It is definitely a quality replica of the Enterprise D, and the saucer separation is a neat trick. I haven't experienced any problems with the stand that other's have reported, but I haven't had it very long.
It is missing the neck window decals, does anyone know if Diamond Select is still issuing replacement decals for this?
I am overall very pleased with this ship, and am tempted to order a few of the other versions. It seemed that my first one was simply a fluke.

[Content] => This latest Diamond Select Star Trek ship is awesome in its size & detail. The saucer section detaching is a nice touch, and the lights & sounds are great. One bad thing - the saucer section is powered by those ridiculously expensive little electronics batteries. TOS phaser's powered by them too & when they die, it's like 14-17 bucks to replace them. So annoying! Would it kill them to power it with some cheap AA or AAA's. Other than that, I love it. Looks great in the collection. B-

[Content] => If I saw this toy at the store, I probably wouldn't have bought it at this price. The quality seems kind of cheap for an item that isn't all that inexpensive. Maybe I'm just getting old but this feels more like a $25 toy. However, since it arrived in the mail I've had loads of fun exploring all the functions and have been wearing it around the house all day. I'd say I'm very happy with my purchase and look forward to taking it on lots of away missions. I am glad I bought this gift for myself.

[Content] => I used to watch Star Trek when I was a young boy and it was airing for the first time. Since then, I've dreamed of having those futuristic gadgets. I was disgustingly happy when I bought my replica phaser and communicator. This completes the set.
The tricorder looks the part quite well. The strap is rugged, and it looks just like the prop they used in the series. There are a few shortcomings though. While the body of the tricorder feels solid enough, there are two pull-open doors in the front that feel a bit flimsy. The tricorder, just like the TV show, has a small, hand-held, cylindrical unit to "scan" items up close. This unit is very much cheap plastic. There is an LED on the front of it that changes colors. On the TV show, that small scanner didn't light up, but made sounds instead. Here, it lights up with no sounds. Also, there is an "on/off" switch. A small button would have been more appropriate.
The bottom drawer flips open so you have a place to store the scanner. As I stated, these doors feel a little flimsy. The only other drawback is that in the photo shown of the tricorder, the screen appears to be like an old tube-style TV screen. On the replica, it has a permanent colorful display.
The top component does flip down. When it's flipped open, it makes a small beep to show it's active. The three buttons on the front do various things. One triggers a timer so that you can close the tricorder, and then after a few moments, it starts beeping so you can open it up and hear a message from Spock. The second button makes a steady "scanning" sound, and the third button cycles through various sayings. The lights above the buttons glow to add an effect of realism. Also, what appears to be a "speaker" in the picture actually creates a moving moire pattern when the tricorder is in use, like the communicator.
It's not that it's a bad unit, it's just that for the price, I expected certain components of it to be a bit more substantial. The hand-held cylindrical scanner is an actual disappointment as it is VERY cheap, flimsy, and displays seams from the mold. Parts are of high quality, but a few parts you'll have to be careful with.

[Content] => I can honestly say that I am completely impressed with this product.
I read extensive reviews before I bought it, so I assumed that it would be pretty cool, but somehow lacking in either make or ability (many of the reviews were positive, but critical). When I opened the box I was hesitant, although the product looked nice- but as soon as I turned it to `play mode' [[definitely do this first! It's set on demo mode naturally, which only allows for one function]] I started giggling like a little kid. I have never felt so much like a child as when I started experimenting with all the lit buttons and scanning things around my room. I'm a college student and a huge nerd, and I've never been so impressed with a toy. It looks, sounds, and acts like a tricorder, and I think that the verbal comments from Mr. Spock are excellent. The strap is well made and the toy has many functions and capabilities- from sounds to lighting effects, it made me feel like I was on planet searching for life forms. It was amazing.
My only negative comment would be that it is very light and seems pretty delicate. Opening the bottom panel always makes me a little nervous, since I fear it might break if I pull too hard, but if one is careful about it I'm sure it'll be fine. So, I would say although nicely crafted, it is a delicate toy.
I would highly suggest this to any Trekkie. If you love Star Trek and you have any imagination whatsoever- you will LOVE this tricorder. It was worth every penny I spent on it. I am beyond impressed.

[Content] => I remember watching the original series when it first came out in the sixities. Yes I am that old and have been a trekkie ever since. And I have collected many Trek items over the years. Always within a budget, but dreamed of the prop replicas offered. So until now I've only had the model tricorder from the seventies.
Now I have a Tricorder to be proud of, and carry around when in uniform :) Despite some reviews I am very happy with mine. No this is not a hundreds of dollars repli-prop. It is a toy and priced to sell, Thanks Amazon for the pre Christmas sale :) It feels good, looks good and mine sounds good too. The only downer I would say is the way the view screen is lit. The lighting is from way off to the right side and does not light up the screen very brightly or evenly. So until I win the lottery and can buy a real replica I'll stick with my new Tricorder :)

[Content] => A great item! I recieved one from my friend before she went off to college (leaving me in high school). The bobblehead says three Spock lines: "Live Long and Prosper," "Fascinating," and "Obviously, you are completely irrational." It's a great pieve of work with some fine detail. The arms move, but you won;t EVER care about this.
The only downside to this tow is that it's motion sensitive. The slightest movement will trigger the audio. I made the mistake of placing it on top of my DvD player. Just be aware that, like Spock, it talks and talks and talks.
Great item! Great gift for any Trekkie!

[Content] => I bought this as I liked the new sound effects and electronics from the new Star Trek movie (even though the Tricorder was not even used in the movie for some reason) but have to say this is cheap looking, the sounds are cheap and dont continue they only last a few seconds and you have to press the button again. It should have a constant sound. The front flap flips open and sticks straight up which makes it hard to push the buttons. Whoever made this should be fired.
I own the Tricorder from Next Generation and it is much better, as well as the iPhone Tricorder apps with are even better and have authentic sound that continues while you are scanning.
DONT BUY THIS CHEAP THING.

When I heard they were going to reboot the series starting back at the beginning, I was looking forward to seeing familiar characters, which as far as many trek fans are concerned, include the ship and props. But this tricorder is so off base it's rediculous. The original tricorder was a reasonable size, it contained the knowledge of the ship, it had a TV screen and interchangeable data disks, which makes sense. This little thing is so small and impractical, it's rediculous. There are a few episodes where the view screen on the tricorder is necessary. Now if the crew is going to relive those adventures, how can this thing help...there isn't even a view screen on it. And it is so small, if there was one, they're gonna need a lot of Retinax to be able to see it. I can understand updating the equipment, but though the Enterprise was updated, it was still recognizable as the Enterprise. This is totally unrecognizable as a tricorder.

[Content] => I'm sorry to ruin the other reviews of this product, but here it goes! I'm a BIG collector of Star Trek and other Sci-Fi and Space related props, toys, and models (just ask my wife - she thinks I have way to much stuff!). Anyway, to be honest, I'm pretty disappointed in this product. The operative word for the review is CHEAP (1)!
The Tricorder is VERY cheaply (2) made - both in looks and finish. I do like this sounds and lights (hence the 2 stars), but the unit itself is - well - cheap (3)! I know the price was very reasonable, but I think it could have been much better, even if it would be a bit more expensive. The stickers/decals are hard to read and cheaply (4) placed, the front mirror/silver finish just looks bad (hard to explain), and the unit feels - again - cheap (5). As mentioned above, I have many many other prop\toys (Art Asylum, Matchbox, Playmate, etc) and this one is the cheesiest and cheapest (6) one I own, I probably will not display with my other stuff - way to cheap (7). Sorry! P.S. I think that is a record for someone using cheap (8) in a review!

[Content] => The paint job is pisspoor.
NO LIGHT shines through the deflector dish. (Painted black?!)
TOO MUCH LIGHT shines through the saucer section of the hull. (Looks...odd)
Engines keep falling off on one side for no reason. (I had to superglue it.)
The rest of the paintjob looked good but the saucer didn't have as much paint than the primary hull and engines of the ship, which is...noticeable.
All in all I think DiamondSelect needs a quality control team bad because the quality of there ships are all over the place.
And ordering from online adds new worries to a purchase like this.
For something like this it is better to find a local Hastings store or another place that sells one out of a brick and mortar location. You must examine these ships closely to decide which one looks defect free.
Diamond Select (Art Asylum) toys better get there quality and consistency looked at ASAP no doubt.
Other than that it's a great 'toy'.

[Content] => To put it lightly I agree with the other reviews of this item. It is a nice looking Enterprise but the Art Asylum NCC-1701 A is a better ship to buy. The white color on this one is nice but the plastic is really thin. Compared to the NCC-1701 A this ship is lighter in weight so Diamond must have changed something at the manufacturing facility besides the color. My huge complaint with this ship is the deflector dish. The dish is black when it should be a light blue with the lights off. The NCC-1701 A has this feature perfect with the light off but cost alot more if you can find one. I would give the NCC 1701 A a higher rating than this Wrath of Khan version. Also with this version the impulse engine lights do not light up or if they do you canot tell due to all the light bleeding through the plastic. I own almost all the Art Asylum Enterprises and this one is my least favorite of all them.

[Content] => Ordered the Enterprise refit from GoHastings and it came in 1 week w/no shipping issues or damage.
Pros:
1. As others have mentioned, the detail is extraordinary for this toy/model. It really is a scaled down version
of the Enterprise Refit.
2. Lights and sounds are pretty cool and it is a nice alternative to those who do not have the time or skill to build
a full blown model with lights.
Cons:
1. Paint job is a bit sloppy in some areas especially the saucer section and torpedo bay.
2. Deflector dish is painted black which blocks the lighting.
(I actually removed the paint and the effect is much better. I may shade it with blue in the future.)
3. Would have been nice to have a mode where the lights just stay on instead of just functioning with the movie phrases.
4. There are some minor spaces between parts especially around aft area and botttom fuselage near battery.
Overall, the ship is pretty cool and the cons mentioned are fairly minor. It is worth the $$ at $39. It would really be cool
if the ship can be disassembled to add navigation lights and blinkers.
